What it is
Concrete is porous. Dirt, oil, rust and mildew soak into it, so a driveway goes from light grey to dark and blotchy a little at a time, and a garden hose only moves the top layer around.
Concrete cleaning takes the grime out of the surface, the joints and the edges, from the street to the garage door, and the walks, steps and pool deck around the house.

How it's done
Pre-treat the stains
Oil drips, rust and organic stains get a treatment before the wash, so it can work while the rest is cleaned.
Clean the flat concrete
Large flat areas are cleaned evenly, edge to edge, so the slab dries one color with no stripes.
Joints, edges and steps
Expansion joints, edges along the grass and steps are cleaned out by hand.
Rinse it all off
Everything is rinsed away from the house, including the walk and the curb.
Questions
Will every oil stain come out?
Most lighten a lot. A stain that has sat for years has soaked deep into the concrete and may leave a shadow. We'll look at it and tell you honestly before we start.
Why does concrete turn dark or green?
Dirt settles into the pores, and in shady, damp spots mildew and algae grow on it. That is why the strip along the lawn or under a tree is often the worst part of a driveway.
Can you clean around my pool?
Yes. Pool decks and the concrete around pools are part of concrete cleaning. Tell us what the deck and coping are made of when you ask for an estimate.
Should I seal the concrete afterward?
Sealing is optional, and it is easiest right after a cleaning. It helps the surface shed water and stains. See sealing for how it works.
